Galileo Galilei — the man who turned a telescope toward the sky and changed how we see the world

Galileo did not invent the telescope or first propose that Earth moves. His observations, experiments and disputes with authority changed how we test claims about nature.

Physics

Edward Teller: the genius who opened the thermonuclear age

From quantum physics and flight from Nazism to the hydrogen bomb, the Oppenheimer hearing and “Star Wars”.

Portrait of Nikola Tesla.
Technology

Nikola Tesla: the motor that changed the electrical world

From Smiljan to rotating magnetic fields, AC patents and the boundary between working inventions and grand plans.

Physics

Albert Einstein: from light quanta to curved spacetime

How a patent clerk changed our understanding of light, time and gravity, and how the ideas were tested.

Seventeenth-century artistic depiction of Archimedes
Physics

Archimedes: buoyancy, levers and ideas ahead of their time

Behind the “Eureka” story stand rigorous geometry, problems of balance and questions that still matter in physics.

Charles Darwin: how did evolutionary theory emerge?

From notebooks aboard the Beagle to natural selection: how the idea that transformed biology developed, and what it actually says.

Portrait of Michael Faraday
Physics

How did Faraday discover electromagnetic induction?

An 1831 experiment showed that a changing magnetic field can produce an electric current.
